Christ Is Risen!

14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Application

Christ is risen! He died on a Friday, but came back to life on Sunday. That is why we meet as a church on Sunday. It is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ. Do you remember Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia? He went to death for his friend Edmund and then came back to life and went on to destroy the White Witch. This is a picture of Jesus dying on the cross and rising from the dead with life in his hands. This scripture tells of his appearance to his disciples after his resurrection. His disciples didn’t even believe the people who had said that he arose. Jesus told them so many times what would happen, but they just didn’t understand. He then tells them to go into all the world and tell them about what Jesus did. Signs will follow them so that the word would be confirmed. I believe that God wants us to walk in that same authority today. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our religion we forget what God is asking us to do. We must tell the world that Jesus lives!

Now what…?

Because Jesus lives, you and I can have life. That is the message that you can give to those around you. Spend time with God and you will learn how to speak to the people in this world. He will show you how to pray for others and how to love them. Take some time today to sit with God and ask him to show you what he wants to do in your life.
